Forest fire shuts down I-12 due to smoke
9:12 update: Interstate 12 is open in both directions as first responders continue to monitor fires. ST. tammany Parish is under a Red Flag Fire alert throughout tomorrow evening.

7:45 p.m. Update: St. Tammany Fire Protection District 3 said: No homes are in danger at this time. No evacuation orders are in place at this time. We are monitoring the fire through several agencies. If you see fire. Call 911.
Due to active forest fires along 1-12, Interstate 12 is now shut down in both directions between HWY. 59 and Hwy. 434. Please avoid the area and seek alternative routes. As the Louisiana and Mississippi Gulf Coast is in a high fire danger, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Department posted the following photo with the message: “And let’s be very clear: Do. Not. Burn. Anything.”
